The Ajman Municipality and Planning Department announced that the construction and building sector in the Emirate recorded notable growth during the first quarter of the current year, with the total value of construction contracts exceeding AED 3.876 billion, while the number of building permits issued reached 1,162 during the same period. This reflects the scale of the developmental momentum being witnessed in the Emirate and the sustained growth across various urban and economic sectors, in alignment with the Department’s strategic objective of comprehensive urban management and in keeping with Ajman Vision 2030 directions aimed at creating a civilised environment that enhances the Emirate’s appeal and quality of life.

Dr. Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Infrastructure Development Sector, affirmed that these results reflect the growing confidence of residents, investors, and developers in the attractive environment provided by the Emirate of Ajman, noting that this growth is the fruit of the strategic policies adopted by the Emirate and the ongoing efforts to develop the operational framework, ensuring the achievement of balanced and sustainable urban development.

He added that the Department continues to implement its ambitious plans aimed at enhancing quality of life through the development of integrated infrastructure and the creation of an advanced urban environment that meets the needs of residents and keeps pace with investor aspirations, contributing to economic growth and the consolidation of the foundations of comprehensive and sustainable development.

Bin Omair noted that the achieved indicators embody the accelerated momentum being witnessed in the construction and urban development sector in the Emirate, across residential, commercial, and investment projects alike, reflecting the vitality of the real estate market and the growing demand for qualitative projects that meet future development requirements.

Engineer Ahmed bin Sultan Al Nuaimi, Director of the Buildings Department, affirmed that the Department continues its efforts to develop the building licensing framework through the adoption of comprehensive digital transformation and the deployment of the latest smart technologies and artificial intelligence solutions, contributing to the elevation of operational efficiency, the acceleration of transaction processing, and the enhancement of procedural accuracy and output quality.

He explained that among the projects contributing to the development of the licensing system is the Building Information Modelling (BIM) project, which adopts an advanced digital methodology based on the creation of an integrated three-dimensional building model supported by an accurate and comprehensive database. This project contributes to improving the quality of engineering plans, reducing observations and errors, and enhancing the efficiency of review and approval processes, whilst accelerating licensing procedures and raising the level of coordination among various engineering disciplines. The project also represents a fundamental pillar in supporting the Emirate’s direction towards digital transformation and consolidating the concepts of sustainability and innovation in the construction sector, contributing to the creation of a more efficient, high-quality, and sustainable urban environment.

The Director of the Buildings Department noted that the Department is currently implementing a project to modernise building and planning regulations and requirements, as part of its ongoing efforts to develop an integrated urban framework that keeps pace with the rapid growth being witnessed in the Emirate. The project aims to prepare a modern regulatory framework that enhances the efficiency of the construction and building sector and consolidates the principles of sustainability and transparency, through the updating of building and planning requirements in accordance with international best practices and the development of advanced digital tools that support decision-making and facilitate access to information. The project will also contribute to raising the quality of the urban environment, enhancing the Emirate’s investment appeal, and supporting its direction towards building a sustainable and integrated community, in alignment with its future vision and developmental ambitions.
