The Ajman Transport Authority has signed a cooperation agreement with the Emirates Autism Society, with the aim of equipping and operating a sensory taxi dedicated to serving persons with autism spectrum disorder — as part of the Authority’s efforts to enhance quality of life, provide innovative transport services suited to the needs of persons of determination, and develop a comprehensive transport system that meets the needs of all segments of society.
The agreement was signed in the presence of His Excellency Omar Mohammed Lootah, Director General of the Ajman Transport Authority; Fatima Saif Al Matrooshi, Vice-Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Autism Society; and Engineer Amal Salem Al Karbi, Director General of the Emirates Autism Society — affirming both parties’ commitment to strengthening joint cooperation and developing distinctive initiatives that support services for persons of determination.
The agreement aims to consolidate cooperation between the two parties and define frameworks for joint work and shared responsibilities, contributing to community service and the support of comprehensive development in areas of mutual interest, and drawing on the specialised expertise of the Emirates Autism Society in engaging with persons with autism spectrum disorder — supporting the Authority’s efforts to provide safe, comfortable, and appropriate transport services for this group.
Under the terms of the agreement, the Ajman Transport Authority will be responsible for providing, equipping, and operating the vehicle — including the installation of the fare meter, cameras, and signage, and the implementation of all necessary operational fittings in accordance with the technical recommendations provided by the Society. The Society will also be involved in the review and evaluation stages of the fittings to ensure their alignment with the needs of beneficiaries, and the Authority will provide the operational personnel required to deliver the service with efficiency and high quality.
For its part, the Emirates Autism Society will provide technical and specialist consultancy relating to the design and equipping of the sensory vehicle, and will supply the Authority with the standards and guidelines pertaining to appropriate sensory tools and aids — creating a safe and comfortable transport environment for persons with autism spectrum disorder. The Society will also contribute to the preparation and delivery of training and guidance programmes for staff and drivers, with the aim of raising awareness and developing the skills necessary for optimal engagement with this group — enhancing service quality and providing a more inclusive and appropriate transport experience tailored to their needs.
This agreement embodies the Ajman Transport Authority’s and the Emirates Autism Society’s commitment to unifying efforts and strengthening community partnership — supporting the development of inclusive transport services, keeping pace with the UAE’s directions in empowering persons of determination, and providing innovative services that contribute to improving their quality of life and enhancing their integration into society.
