The Department of Municipality and Planning in Ajman has continued its efforts to develop an integrated regulatory framework that enhances public health and quality of life in the Emirate, drawing on the latest international practices, smart systems, and qualified national competencies, within its vision of building a healthy and safe community, and in line with its strategic objective of strengthening food and environmental management in alignment with Ajman Vision 2030.

The Department’s Public Health Directorate recorded advanced regulatory performance during the first quarter of 2026, conducting 2,153 inspection visits, including 1,577 visits to food establishments and 576 visits to health establishments, across 60 inspection plans, reflecting the efficiency of planning and the targeted quality of inspection operations to achieve optimal outcomes.

Dr. Eng. Khalid Maeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector, affirmed that the results achieved during Q1 2026 reflect the efficiency of the integrated regulatory framework adopted by the Department, based on smart planning, risk analysis, and investment in national competencies and modern technologies. He noted that efforts continue to further develop the public health system to ensure community protection and the safety and wellbeing of individuals.

Al Hosani explained that the Department places significant emphasis on awareness and training as a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable compliance, through intensifying training programmes and field campaigns, and strengthening partnerships with relevant entities, contributing to fostering a healthy and safe environment.

He added that these intensive efforts and the implementation of awareness and training programmes have led to positive outcomes, with 1,369 food and health establishments achieving a high compliance rating, reflecting improved levels of commitment and enhanced service quality. This was accompanied by 37,104 training activities conducted for workers in food and health establishments, as part of a proactive approach aimed at promoting a sustainable health culture and reducing violations.

As part of efforts to enhance regulatory efficiency, the Department adopted the “Raqeeb” smart system, which has contributed to improving inspection mechanisms through smart visit planning, inspector task management, optimal geographic routing, and digital field documentation of procedures, thereby enhancing transparency and standardising inspection outcomes.

786 Field Campaigns Covering Multiple Sectors

In a related context, Al Hosani highlighted the Department’s efforts in public health pest control, noting that Q1 2026 recorded an increase in the number of requests to 4,433, compared to 3,828 during the same period in 2025, marking a rise of 13.65%. The total number of inspection and control operations also increased to 568,309, compared to 415,760, reflecting a growth of 26.84%.

In this regard, the Department implemented 786 diverse field campaigns, including awareness and educational initiatives in residential areas, labour accommodations, and institutions, as well as proactive campaigns during the rainy season and targeted campaigns in the most affected areas, in addition to training programmes for licensed pest control companies, enhancing response efficiency and prevention efforts.

These integrated efforts contributed to tangible results, including a reduction in disease-carrying pest rates and their control within safe limits, a decline in related health cases, improved customer happiness levels, and enhanced team readiness to respond to emergencies and crises.

80070 — 24/7 Reporting Hotline

The Department called on community members to support these efforts by reporting any observations or complaints through the Ajman Contact Centre at 80070, available 24/7, affirming the importance of community partnership in strengthening the public health system.
