The Ajman Municipality and Planning Department is conducting an intensive inspection campaign in preparation for Eid Al Adha Al Mubarak, comprising 1,499 inspection visits to food and health establishments during the past week.
The campaign covers markets and food and health establishments, alongside the strengthening of veterinary oversight at the livestock market, ensuring the protection of public health and the safety of community members.
The Department continues its periodic monitoring of livestock and sheep shipments arriving at the livestock market through direct veterinary supervision by veterinary physicians, to verify the health condition of the animals, confirm they are free from zoonotic diseases, and ensure their suitability for human consumption and use as sacrificial animals in accordance with approved health and veterinary requirements.
Inspection and veterinary teams also continue to carry out inspection rounds and ongoing follow-up within the market, to ensure compliance with the health and regulatory requirements governing the handling and display of livestock, thereby contributing to the safety of sacrificial animals during Eid Al Adha.
The Department has prepared a comprehensive plan for the implementation of intensive inspection and monitoring campaigns on food and health establishments that experience increased footfall during this occasion, with inspection and monitoring teams operating around the clock to follow up on establishments’ compliance with approved health requirements and to strengthen the protection of public health.
The monitoring campaigns focus on food preparation and service establishments, including restaurants and traditional kitchens, to ensure compliance with the health requirements necessary for food preparation and handling, and adherence to approved best health practices within the Ajman Public Health Programme.
The campaigns also cover retail establishments, cooperative societies, and food sales and handling outlets, with the aim of verifying the safety, validity, and quality of food products on display, alongside the immediate handling of reports and complaints received from customers around the clock.
On the health side, inspection teams continue to implement monitoring plans for salons and male and female personal care centres, to ensure compliance with approved health requirements and preventive procedures, with intensified awareness efforts on the importance of using sterilised tools and applying sound health practices — particularly given the increased footfall in the period preceding the holiday.
The Department affirmed the continuation of coordination between the Food Trade Office and the Ajman Port and Customs Department to inspect food shipments and containers and complete their clearance procedures in accordance with approved regulations, thereby ensuring the safety of food in circulation and protecting consumer health. This is complemented by the continuation of inspection and examination services for food shipments arriving through Ajman Port and shipments transferred from various Emirates of the country via the federal Zad system, in support of the food security framework and the enhancement of the quality and safety of food circulating in the markets.
