The Ajman Chamber of Commerce and Industry participated, represented by His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Muwaiji, Chairman of the Board of Directors, in the 29th edition of the Arab-German Forum, organised by the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry from 17 to 19 June in Berlin, Germany. The forum discussed future trends in the energy, water, and logistics sectors, while exploring opportunities to strengthen economic partnerships and attract investment.
The forum attracted wide participation from government officials, business leaders, and private sector representatives, coinciding with the celebration of the Arab-German Chamber’s Golden Jubilee, marking five decades of cooperation and partnership and reflecting the depth of Arab-German economic relations.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Muwaiji stated that trade exchange between the United Arab Emirates and the Federal Republic of Germany reached approximately AED 50 billion in 2024, underscoring the strength of economic and commercial relations between the two countries.
Forum sessions focused on the energy, water, healthcare, and logistics sectors, in addition to opportunities for strengthening Arab-German partnerships and benefiting from German expertise in advanced industries and modern technologies.
Participants discussed challenges facing the transport and logistics sector in the Gulf region during the recent period and their impact on supply chains, freight movement, and trade flows. They also reviewed proposed solutions and alternatives aimed at strengthening supply chain resilience and preparedness for future challenges through diversifying air, road, and rail freight transport, developing alternative logistics solutions for ports, and addressing container congestion challenges.
Participants praised the UAE’s experience in enhancing the readiness of the logistics sector and providing effective alternatives across ports and various modes of transport, highlighting the importance of benefiting from the solutions adopted by the country in addressing supply chain challenges, particularly given that seaports account for approximately 70 per cent of global cargo movement.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Muwaiji proposed strengthening European-Gulf partnerships through expanding direct investments in alternative energy projects, supporting the sustainability of supply chains and ensuring the continuity of energy exports to global markets, particularly European countries. The proposal also supports preparedness for future challenges and maximises the benefits of research outcomes and modern innovations in alternative energy and green hydrogen sectors.
The forum also addressed the importance of artificial intelligence applications in driving innovation and developing solutions, as well as the need for data validation and preservation to ensure the effectiveness of these applications, alongside strengthening data security and protection against cyber threats.
Participants recommended enhancing the role of health authorities in supporting the medical equipment and pharmaceutical industries, strengthening preventive healthcare programmes, and advancing educational programmes that contribute to improving productivity, management efficiency, and performance quality across various sectors.
