1,617 New Licences and 8,777 Renewals Issued in Ajman in Q1 2026

The Ajman Department of Economic Development recorded the issuance of 1,617 new licences during the first quarter of 2026, alongside 8,777 renewed licences, reflecting the stability of the business environment and the continued activity of establishments in the Emirate.

Renewed licences rose by 7% compared to the same period in 2025, indicating a trend among establishments towards continuity and strengthening their presence in the local market.

By sector, professional licences led the new licence category with 904 licences, followed by commercial licences with 677, and industrial licences with 36. Professional licences also topped the renewals category with 4,370, followed by commercial with 4,001 and industrial with 406.

The number of cancelled licences stood at 199 during the first quarter, a decline of 18% compared to the same period in 2025, comprising 92 professional, 102 commercial, and 5 industrial licences. This reflects the continued reduction in cancellations and the ability of economic activities to maintain stability despite prevailing challenges.

With regard to permits, the total number of permits issued reached 20,101 during Q1 2026, a growth rate of 0.3% compared to the same period last year.

Data also showed an increase in the number of active licences to 41,603, representing 16% growth compared to the same period last year, while the number of expired licences declined by 21% over the same period.

The total number of investors registered during Q1 2026 reached 73,418, a growth rate of 11% compared to the same period last year, and an increase of 6% compared to the end of 2025.

The Ajman Department of Economic Development affirmed its commitment to developing the licensing services system and enhancing procedural efficiency through the adoption of digital solutions that facilitate the customer journey and support the continuity of economic activities, thereby strengthening the Emirate’s competitiveness and investment appeal.
