Under Humaid bin Rashid’s Patronage.. Ajman International Urban Planning Conference to Launch on 20 January

The Municipality and Planning Department – Ajman will organize on 20 January the Ajman International Urban Planning Conference in its tenth edition under the theme “From Our History We Plan Our Future: Between Heritage, Art and Creativity, Innovation, and the Future”, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman.

The conference will be held over two days at Ajman University, with the participation of elite experts, specialists, and academics, within the framework of the Department’s commitment to enhancing knowledge exchange and discussing the latest trends in the fields of urban planning and city development.

Dr. Engineer Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Infrastructure Development Sector at the Department, stated that organizing the conference comes in alignment with the vision of the Emirate of Ajman aimed at building sustainable and smart cities that focus on quality of life and enhance the competitiveness of the urban environment.

He explained that the conference includes three main themes comprising the evolution of urban planning from traditional fabric to future cities, the family and community theme as a foundation for planning a sustainable urban environment, in addition to the arts and heritage theme and their role in shaping the modern urban landscape. He noted that the conference includes six dialogue sessions with the participation of 18 speakers from experts and specialists, in addition to 18 specialized workshops aimed at developing professional skills and building capacities in the fields of urban planning and city development.

Engineer Al Muhairi affirmed that the conference represents a pioneering knowledge platform bringing together experts, specialists, and decision-makers from various countries around the world to discuss future challenges and opportunities in urban planning, and review successful experiences and innovative solutions that contribute to developing more sustainable and resilient cities.

The conference reflects the Department’s commitment to supporting innovation in urban planning and linking academic research outputs with practical applications, as it focuses on envisioning the future of cities through blending urban heritage, art, creativity, and modern technologies, thus forming a realistic opportunity to enhance partnerships between government, academic, and private entities, and producing practical recommendations that contribute to supporting urban policies and achieving sustainable development in the Emirate of Ajman.

The Department invited all experts, specialists, academics, all institutions, and segments of society to attend the conference that draws the features of the future, emphasizing the importance of integration, partnership, and cooperation among all to achieve the best.
