Ajman Digital Department, Municipality & Planning Department and CPX Collaborate to Strengthen Cybersecurity

Ajman, 19 September:

Ajman Digital Department, Ajman Municipality & Planning Department and CPX have signed a tripartite memorandum of understanding to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise in information technology and cybersecurity. The agreement aims to support joint efforts to build a safer and more sustainable digital environment, under the sponsorship and coordination of the UAE Cyber Security Council.

The memorandum of understanding forms part of efforts to enhance integration between government entities and specialised cybersecurity institutions by developing frameworks for cooperation, knowledge exchange, expertise-sharing and the adoption of best practices. This will contribute to raising readiness levels and strengthening responses to cyber challenges and risks.

The memorandum focuses on several key areas, including enhancing capabilities for protection, prevention and response to cyberattacks; exchanging technical and knowledge-based expertise in information security; and developing awareness and educational programmes and initiatives. These efforts aim to raise awareness of cyber risks and promote safe digital practices, in line with the parties’ shared principles and objectives.

Her Excellency Dr Ahood Ali Al Shuhail, Director General of Ajman Digital Department, affirmed that the memorandum of understanding represents a further step towards strengthening the cybersecurity ecosystem and supporting government entities’ readiness to address the rapid developments in the digital environment.

Her Excellency said: “Cybersecurity is now a shared responsibility, and enhancing readiness requires integrated efforts and the exchange of expertise between government entities and specialised partners. Through this memorandum, we are expanding the scope of cooperation in prevention, response and cybersecurity awareness, thereby strengthening our ability to protect digital infrastructure and ensure the continuity of services efficiently and securely.

“At Ajman Digital Department, we believe that building a trusted digital ecosystem is a fundamental basis for continuing the digital transformation journey and delivering real, sustainable value to the community.”

For his part, Dr Hamdan Mohammed Al Ali, Executive Director of the Support Services Sector at Ajman Municipality & Planning Department, affirmed the shared commitment of all parties to strengthening government integration in addressing rapidly evolving cyber challenges.

He explained that the memorandum formalises mutual coordination in information security, contributing to the development of an integrated ecosystem for preventing and responding efficiently to cyber risks. It also supports a sustained commitment to exchanging expertise and knowledge and developing capabilities, thereby strengthening the protection of digital systems, data and infrastructure and supporting the continuity of safe and reliable government services.

He noted that effective partnerships between government entities and specialists constitute a fundamental pillar for keeping pace with rapid developments in cybersecurity and embedding a culture of security and digital awareness.

The memorandum of understanding reflects the three parties’ commitment to unifying efforts and leveraging their shared expertise and capabilities to support capacity development in cybersecurity. It will contribute to enhancing digital resilience and raising preparedness to address current and future cyber threats.

The memorandum also supports the National Initiative to develop the capabilities of the UAE’s Cyber Security Operations Centres (ESOC), contributing to enhanced cooperation and integration in cybersecurity and to the establishment of an advanced ecosystem capable of keeping pace with technological developments and protecting digital assets and systems, in support of sustainable and secure digital transformation.
