Ajman, 1 October:
The number of students enrolled at Ajman University has surpassed 10,000 for the first time since its establishment, marking an institutional achievement that reflects the confidence of students and their families in the quality of higher education and the opportunities available in the United Arab Emirates.
The achievement underscores the importance of the foundations underpinning the sustainable growth of higher education institutions, foremost among them educational quality, institutional agility and the ability to prepare students for a changing world.
As the University continues to grow, its responsibility to maintain educational quality, provide the necessary support for students and enhance the learning experience expected by students and their families also increases.
Since its establishment in 1988 as the first private university in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Ajman University has evolved into a non-profit institution with a global reach, attracting students and faculty members from within and beyond the UAE.
This growth has been accompanied by sustained investment in educational quality, research, emerging disciplines, international partnerships, expanded student opportunities and enhanced graduate readiness for professional life.
Dr Karim Al Sagheer, Chancellor of Ajman University, said: “Reaching more than 10,000 students enrolled in our academic programmes on a single campus reflects the confidence that students and their families place in the University. It also reflects the opportunities for progress and development offered by the UAE’s higher education sector.
“This growth is founded on educational institutions’ ability to respond to changing needs while maintaining the highest academic standards and investing in the future of education. We are proud to be part of the UAE’s higher education journey and to contribute to consolidating its standing and enhancing its impact.”
He added: “With every new step in our growth journey, our responsibility towards our students and community increases. Every student who chooses Ajman University deserves a high-quality education, support throughout their journey, and opportunities that help them build a promising professional future.
“We therefore ensure that our investment in faculty members, learning facilities, research and student experience keeps pace with the growth of our university community. As a non-profit university, we place educational and community impact at the heart of our decisions and investments, and continue to direct our resources towards what makes a sustainable difference in the lives of our students and the wider community.”
The achievement comes at a time of notable academic and institutional advancement for Ajman University. In 2026, the University entered the world’s top 400 universities for the first time, ranking 397th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2027.
The University also received an overall 5-Star Plus (5+) rating—the highest distinction awarded by the QS Stars university rating system—and achieved five stars in teaching, employability, research, governance, global engagement, social impact, and diversity, equity and inclusion.
Ajman University has also secured institutional accreditation from the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), reflecting its commitment to international standards of educational quality and supporting its continued academic and institutional growth.
As a non-profit university, Ajman University continues to reinvest its resources in academic excellence, faculty development, research capacity, learning facilities, student development and international partnerships. These investments support the University’s growth while continuing to enhance educational quality and align it with the needs of students and society.
The University is also continuing to develop its academic programmes in fields including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science and advanced health sciences. This coincides with the advancement of research activity and expanded collaboration with business sectors, reflecting the University’s commitment to preparing graduates with the knowledge and skills to contribute to the UAE’s evolving economy.
