Ajman Municipality & Planning Department Explores Latest Smart Technologies for Air and Water Quality and Infrastructure at SENSOR CHINA Expo & Conference 2026 in Shanghai

Ajman, 18 September:

A delegation from Ajman Municipality & Planning Department visited the SENSOR CHINA Expo & Conference 2026, held from 16 to 18 September at the Shanghai Convention and Exhibition Centre for International Procurement.

The visit formed part of the delegation’s tour of Shanghai, People’s Republic of China, led by His Excellency Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Department, to explore leading international experiences and technologies in smart cities, digital transformation, smart monitoring of air and water quality, and infrastructure maintenance.

During its visit to the exhibition, the delegation reviewed the latest solutions and applications in smart sensors, the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence tools and robotics, smart monitoring systems, and infrastructure monitoring and maintenance devices. It also explored smart solutions that contribute to collecting and analysing environmental data and monitoring indicators related to air and water quality and emissions, thereby supporting environmental sustainability efforts and enhancing the efficiency of monitoring and assessment.

The delegation also examined the latest technologies used to monitor and maintain infrastructure, and to track related changes and technical indicators. These technologies contribute to improving the efficiency of maintenance and monitoring operations, enhancing asset readiness, and opening new prospects for their use in advancing urban monitoring systems, improving the efficiency of facilities and service management, and enhancing quality of life in the emirate.

His Excellency Abdulrahman Al Nuaimi affirmed that the visit to the exhibition, one of Asia’s leading specialised platforms for sensor technologies, forms part of the Department’s commitment to continually exploring the latest global innovations and experiences in artificial intelligence and digital transformation. It also supports the exploration of solutions that can contribute to developing the municipal system and enhancing the efficiency of services provided to the community.

He said that smart sensing technologies, the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence represent key pillars in the development of modern cities, given their advanced capabilities in collecting, analysing and using data in a timely manner. Such technologies support the efficient management of assets and facilities, enhance infrastructure readiness, and strengthen environmental monitoring systems and smart services.

His Excellency reaffirmed the Department’s commitment to keeping pace with global technological developments, reviewing international best practices and experiences in environmental sustainability and infrastructure management, and exploring opportunities to deploy innovative solutions in a manner suited to the emirate’s needs and future directions.

The visit builds on the Department’s efforts to employ artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things and smart data to support the smart city ecosystem and strengthen sustainability and quality of life, in line with Ajman’s vision of building a more innovative and efficient future.
