The Ajman Government Media Office has launched the Emirate’s Official Media Content Guide, to serve as a unified executive reference for organising the preparation, review, approval, and publication of government content, thereby enhancing the accuracy of media messages and entrenching the governance of official discourse in the Emirate.
The Guide was introduced during a media briefing held in Ajman, attended by His Excellency Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Secretary General of the National Media Office, and more than 90 media professionals and officials responsible for media and corporate communication across Ajman Government departments.
His Excellency Mohammed Al Kaabi, Executive Director of the Ajman Government Media Office, stated that the launch of the Guide comes as a complement to the Government Media Policy adopted by the Ajman Executive Council, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, in October of last year, supporting the development of a clearer and more consistent government media framework.
He affirmed that the Guide constitutes the executive reference for the application of the Government Media Policy in the Emirate, by defining the pathways for preparing, reviewing, approving, and publishing media content, and ensuring the accuracy of government messages — thereby protecting the Emirate’s institutional reputation and strengthening trust in content issued by government entities.
He explained that the Guide covers all government entities in Ajman, official spokespersons, and communication teams, as well as content published across traditional and digital media and social media platforms. It also regulates the mechanisms for dealing with influencers and companies contracted to publish on behalf of government entities.
He noted that the Guide entrenches the institutional partnership between the Media Office and government entities, unifies the mechanisms for approving strategic news, managing media during crises, and monitoring and analysing media impact, alongside building the capacities of official spokespersons and communication teams.
For her part, Amal Ibrahim Al Balushi, Director of the Media Development Department at the Ajman Government Media Office, stated that the Emirate’s Official Media Content Guide represents a unified framework for organising government media, raising content quality, and enhancing professionalism in the formulation of government messages in alignment with Ajman Vision and the UAE’s directions.
She added that the Guide sets clear standards for media content, encompassing respect for religious and national values, the preservation of Emirati identity, societal values, and cultural heritage, the prohibition of publishing rumours or misleading news, the prevention of hate speech or incitement to violence and social division, as well as respect for individual privacy and the country’s foreign relations.
She further noted that the Guide adopts a clear system for classifying government news, whereby strategic news is subject to approval by the Ajman Government Media Office, whilst operational news is approved within institutions and government departments in accordance with established procedures.
