The Ajman Department of Municipality and Planning organised the “Aware Families… Distinguished Generations” session at the Al Safia Council, as part of the Community Councils initiative launched by the Department with the aim of strengthening community dialogue, engaging members of the public in discussions on priority issues, and building effective partnerships that contribute to community development and the improvement of quality of life.
The initiative is aligned with the objectives of the Year of the Family and in harmony with Ajman Vision 2030, which seeks to build an inclusive, cohesive, and empowered society.
Engineer Noura Rashid Shattaf, Executive Director of the Strategy and Customer Happiness Sector, affirmed that the Department is committed to fostering direct communication with community members, listening to their views, suggestions, and needs regarding issues that affect their daily lives, and engaging them in contributing quality ideas within the Department’s areas of work — with a view to translating these into projects whose impact is felt by all. She explained that the choice of the family as the session’s theme stems from the Department’s belief that the family is the fundamental building block of a cohesive and sustainable society, and that investing in families and raising awareness amongst their members contributes to preparing generations capable of creativity, excellence, and effective participation in the development journey.
She added that all entities and institutions share the conviction that the aware family is the foundation of a thriving society, and that building distinguished generations begins with a stable family environment — one capable of keeping pace with change and challenges through the active engagement of both institutions and parents.
The session was attended by representatives from a number of entities, alongside experts and specialists in the field of family affairs, parents, distinguished students, and persons of determination. Participants discussed several themes addressing the role of the family in building generations, child protection, and emotional support, and shared inspiring family experiences that have contributed to the achievement of excellence and success.
Counsellor Majid Abdullah Al Ansari, Chief Prosecutor, addressed the theme of “Child Protection and Family Responsibility,” affirming the pivotal role of the family in providing a safe and stable environment for children and raising awareness of behavioural and digital risks. He also highlighted the importance of early identification of problems and addressing them correctly — contributing to the protection of children and the enhancement of their psychological and social stability.
Lieutenant Colonel Dr Fatima Obaid Al Shamsi, Deputy Director of the Community Protection and Prevention Department at Ajman Police, shared her inspiring family experience under the theme “The Ideal Family… An Inspiring Experience,” speaking about the importance of family dialogue, instilling values, and fostering trust and responsibility in children — with the family being the primary incubator for the cultivation of excellence and success.
Under the theme “Emotional Support for Children,” Dr Kholoud Al Tunaiji, a self-development consultant, shed light on the importance of psychological and emotional support within the family and its role in building well-rounded personalities capable of facing challenges. She affirmed that active listening and the creation of a safe family environment contribute to building self-confidence and cementing positive relationships between parents and children.
The session also featured a panel discussion entitled “Inspiring Family Experiences in the Making of Excellence,” in which a number of parents, distinguished students, and creative persons of determination shared their real-life experiences in developing talents, building self-confidence, instilling positive values, and the role of the family in supporting children and motivating them to achieve their goals and successes.
The session was marked by notable engagement from those present, through the sharing of views and suggestions and the discussion of the most prominent challenges facing families in raising children amid rapidly evolving circumstances — alongside the presentation of a number of initiatives and ideas that would serve to strengthen family cohesion and social stability.
