The Ajman Municipality and Planning Department participated in the Bahrain Smart Cities Conference 2026, held under the theme “City Visions: Where Sustainability, Innovation, and Smart Transformation Converge,” with the participation of officials, decision-makers, experts, and specialists from various countries. The participation reflects the Department’s commitment to strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise in the fields of smart cities and digital transformation.
His Excellency Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Department, stated that participation in the conference embodies the Department’s commitment to advancing smart city systems and enhancing the UAE’s standing in this field. He noted that the conference constitutes an important platform for learning from the experiences of brotherly countries and benefiting from their best practices, alongside showcasing the flagship projects being implemented by the Department and the tangible results they have achieved.
His Excellency affirmed that participation in the Bahrain Smart Cities Conference stems from the Department’s sustained commitment to the exchange of expertise and the strengthening of cooperation with government entities and specialised institutions — contributing to the development of municipal systems and the adoption of the latest technologies and innovative solutions that support the building of more efficient and sustainable cities.
The Department’s participation included three working papers that reflected its vision for deploying artificial intelligence and innovation in the development of infrastructure and municipal services. Dr Houriya Al Balushi, Infrastructure Planning Consultant at the Department, presented the “15-Minute Cities” initiative, while Engineer Abdullah Abu Bakr, Head of the Engineering Supervision and Control Section, presented a working paper on the Building Information Modelling (BIM) project. Yousuf Al Suwaidi, Head of the Parking Section, presented the Smart Parking project.
These projects are amongst the most significant pioneering initiatives in the field of sustainable urban planning and smart cities, and represent practical models that contribute to improving quality of life, enhancing the efficiency of urban planning, supporting decision-making, and elevating the customer experience.
The conference also brought together representatives of government entities, the private sector, academic institutions, and international experts, and addressed the latest trends in smart cities, artificial intelligence, sustainability, and digital transformation, while also showcasing pioneering initiatives and experiences that contribute to the development of smart infrastructure and the enhancement of quality of life.
