The Emirates Intellectual Property Association (EIPA) organized the third edition of the Intellectual Property Forum 2026 today, titled "Innovation Starts with Families: The Role of IP in Building a Sustainable Future." The event was attended by H.E. Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Municipality and Planning Department, and H.E. Dr. Eng. Khalid Maeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector.
The forum was held at "Ajman X Center" in partnership with the Municipality and Planning Department and in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism. This joint initiative aims to raise community awareness regarding the importance of protecting intellectual rights and supporting the nation’s innovation journey.
In his keynote speech, H.E. Major General Dr. Abdul Quddus Al Obaidly, Chairman of EIPA, emphasized the importance of spreading the culture of intellectual property within society. He highlighted the family's vital role in nurturing creativity and innovation, which contributes to building a more sustainable and prosperous future, especially as the forum coincides with World Intellectual Property Day and the Year of the Family.
He explained that the family serves as the primary incubator for creativity, where ideas take shape and talents grow. He noted that instilling IP culture within the family unit helps prepare a generation that is more aware and capable of competing, producing, and shaping the future.
The forum featured a panel discussion showcasing working papers presented by a group of specialists and experts, including Consultant Mohamed Bakr Staitieh, EIPA member; Marwa Al Harmoodi, Head of the Intellectual Property Registration and Examination Department at the Ministry of Economy and Tourism; Iman Al Salman, Head of the Intellectual Property Department at the Sharjah Ports, Customs, and Free Zones Authority; Rawia Al Junaibi from the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development; and Dr. Hamada Abdelati Al-Aidi, EIPA member.
