Operation Noble Knight 3, in cooperation with the World Charity Authority, today launched the Step of Hope Prosthetic Limbs Programme — a specialised humanitarian initiative responding to amputation cases resulting from the events endured by the Palestinian people in Gaza. The programme aims to fit upper and lower prosthetic limbs for injured displaced persons, restoring their mobility and paving the way for a new phase of recovery, renewed hope, and the rebuilding of their lives.
The programme represents a practical translation of the UAE’s approach of transitioning humanitarian work from emergency response to sustainable empowerment, rooted in a firm humanitarian philosophy that believes the preservation of human dignity begins with enabling individuals to rise and reclaim their independence. The programme opens a new window that helps alleviate the suffering of Palestinian brothers and sisters from the Gaza Strip and assists the injured in rebuilding their lives with confidence and steadfastness.
The programme goes beyond conventional medical treatment to offer those who have lost limbs a renewed opportunity for movement and life — through an integrated system that provides advanced prosthetic limbs supported by rehabilitation services, physiotherapy, and specialised medical follow-up. This initiative does not merely heal physical wounds; it restores the details of daily life and returns to individuals their balance and stability.
The programme is implemented through a comprehensive institutional framework that reflects the UAE’s leadership in managing humanitarian crises, via the UAE Floating Hospital in the city of Al Arish in the Arab Republic of Egypt. The hospital serves as a practical model of the country’s sustained commitment to supporting the people of Gaza, continuing to fulfil its role as an advanced medical facility that receives Palestinian wounded through skilled medical teams and modern equipment — ensuring comprehensive care that extends from treatment to rehabilitation, and elevating UAE humanitarian action from emergency response to the realm of empowerment.
The Step of Hope programme embodies an enduring UAE approach to humanitarian work, founded on a vision that places the human being at the centre and purpose of development, and holds that a true response does not end with emergency relief but extends to rebuilding the capacity to live. The UAE, which has cemented its presence through Operation Noble Knight 3, does not merely manage the crisis — it works to transform its consequences into a path of recovery and empowerment.
This programme reflects a deeper humanitarian vision rooted in the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may his soul rest in peace, and reinforced today by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God preserve him. It is an authentic approach that elevates the concept of brotherhood from momentary sympathy to the horizons of sustainable projects that improve quality of life, making the empowerment of the human being and the enabling of their recovery the true measure of the nobility of giving. From this standpoint, UAE support for Gaza has not been confined to emergency relief of food and shelter, but has extended into the depths of suffering through an integrated pathway of physical, psychological, and social rehabilitation — seeking to restore the whole person and preserve their dignity.
The Step of Hope programme carries a clear message: that the loss of a limb does not mean the loss of life, and that pain can be a point of beginning rather than an end. Amid the rubble of suffering, the programme opens a new window for children who have lost their limbs, for fathers whose ability to work has been impaired, and for mothers seeking to reclaim the details of everyday life.
In its broader humanitarian dimension, the programme reflects the transition of relief work from immediate response to long-term empowerment — where prosthetic limbs become not merely medical devices, but keys to returning to school, to work, and to normal life; instruments for reclaiming independence and self-confidence.
Through this programme, Operation Noble Knight 3 continues to cement an integrated UAE model of humanitarian action — one that combines relief, treatment, and rehabilitation, and transforms solidarity into a sustained endeavour that touches people’s lives directly.
