Ajman University has achieved its highest-ever ranking in the QS World University Rankings, having been ranked among the world’s top 400 universities for the first time in its history. The University secured 397th place globally in the 2027 edition of the ranking — one of the most prominent and widely recognised academic classifications internationally.
This achievement reflects the University’s trajectory of continuous advancement on the global stage, having risen from the 801–1000 band in the 2019 edition to 397th place globally in the 2027 edition — a qualitative leap accomplished in under a decade.
This year’s results show that Ajman University now surpasses 73.7 per cent of all ranked higher education institutions worldwide, reflecting the tangible progress the University has made across a number of core indicators — most notably academic reputation, employer reputation, international engagement, research performance, and graduate outcomes.
Dr Karim Al Saghir, Chancellor of Ajman University, stated that entering the world’s top 400 universities represents a defining milestone in the University’s institutional journey, and crowns years of sustained effort to strengthen academic quality, research impact, international engagement, and graduate outcomes.
He added that as the University approaches the celebration of its fortieth anniversary in 2028, this achievement carries particular significance — representing the culmination of nearly four decades of continuous development, and the collective contribution of a global alumni network of more than 45,000 graduates, as well as the concerted efforts of all members of the Ajman University community.
He affirmed that rankings are not an end in themselves, but remain an important external indicator of institutional progress. This achievement, he noted, underscores Ajman University’s growing role in the UAE’s higher education sector and its enduring commitment to preparing graduates capable of serving, leading, and making an impact in a rapidly changing world.
Alongside this international advancement, Ajman University has also strengthened its standing domestically, ranking 6th in the UAE overall, 2nd in the UAE in the International Students indicator, and 4th in the UAE in the Employer Reputation indicator.
These results reflect the University’s growing capacity to attract international talent, as well as the increasing confidence of employers in the quality and work-readiness of its graduates.
In the 2027 edition, QS evaluated 8,808 universities across 106 countries worldwide, ranking 1,504 institutions globally and 12 institutions at the national level.
The QS World University Rankings assessment is based on a set of indicators encompassing academic reputation, employer reputation, research impact, internationalisation, employment outcomes, faculty-to-student ratio, and a sustainability indicator.
Ajman University achieved outstanding results in the internationalisation dimension, attaining a perfect score of 100 out of 100 in both the International Faculty and International Students indicators. The University also ranked 4th globally in the International Faculty indicator and 4th in the UAE in the International Research Network indicator — reflecting its capacity to attract world-class academic talent and build international research partnerships of added value.
QS further classified Ajman University’s research intensity as “Very High,” signalling the University’s growing research standing and its expanding role in knowledge production, innovation support, and applied impact.
