Heritage and Enthusiastic Atmosphere Distinguishes Camel Racing in Ajman Government Sports Tournament 2026
The camel racing event was held as part of the Ajman Government Sports Tournament 2026 competitions, amid a heritage-filled and enthusiastic atmosphere and distinguished participation from camel owners, in an event reflecting the status enjoyed by camel racing as an authentic part of the cultural heritage of the United Arab Emirates.
The organizing committee affirmed that including camel racing within the tournament competitions comes within the framework of commitment to enhancing the presence of heritage sports alongside modern sporting activities, embodying the wise leadership’s directions in preserving the national heritage and consolidating it in the hearts of generations. It noted that these events contribute to enhancing national identity and consolidating values associated with the authentic customs and traditions of Emirati society.
The race featured five competitive heats for various categories. The first heat (Local Residents’ Heat) for the 15 to 20 age group resulted in victory for the camel “Clash” owned by Zayed Khalifa Mohammed bin Munayna Al Ghafli, achieving a time of 3:14:69.
In the second heat for the 15 to 20 age group, the camel “Shaheen” owned by Mansour Ibrahim Hilal Bu Ibrahim won with a time of 3:14:94.
The third heat for the 15 to 20 age group resulted in victory for the camel “Tawwaq” owned by Rashed Abdullah Rashed Nayea Al Ghafli, with a time of 3:18:72.
In the fourth heat for the 20 years and above category, the camel “Mutawwaj” owned by Rashed Abdullah Ali Al Kaabi was crowned winner with a time of 3:20:63.
In the fifth heat designated for the women’s category, the camel “Tayyar” owned by Reem Mohammed Abdullah Salem won, achieving a time of 3:18:31, in a competition characterized by enthusiasm and a distinguished level of performance.
At the conclusion of the race, the winners were honoured by Saad Al Muhairi, Chairman of Business Line Group, Abdullah Rashed Al Qara’a, Race Supervisor, and Abdulaziz Abdullah, Director of Championships and Events in the Ajman Government Sports Tournament, who praised the organizational level and distinguished participation witnessed by the race.
