Al Yafna Revives the Culture of Communal Iftar in Ajman
Al Raqaib Council in Ajman hosted the “Al Yafna” initiative, in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Majid Al Nuaimi, Director General of the Citizens’ Affairs Office, and with the participation of a gathering of the Emirate’s residents, to enhance the culture of communal Iftar in residential neighbourhoods as an authentic social practice reflecting genuine Emirati values.
The “Al Yafna” initiative is an Iftar managed by the community for the community, stemming from the spirit of the Emirati community to revive the tradition of communal Iftar across various neighbourhoods of the country, reflecting the values of generosity, compassion and solidarity upon which Emirati society was built.
The initiative presents Emirati customs within an organized community framework in each Emirate, through residents gathering around the Iftar table in their neighbourhoods, creating an experience that enhances cohesion, builds social bonds, embodies the spirit of participation, and affirms the authentic values cherished by the Emirati family.
The initiative also aims to enhance community cohesion and strengthen bonds between community members, encouraging communication and acquaintance between neighbours and building relationships based on cooperation and belonging, in addition to highlighting the Emirati Ramadan identity in a manner close to the community that reflects authentic local traditions.
