The Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media has achieved a new international distinction, winning the Innovation in World Heritage Education Award in the “Star of Excellence” category — in recognition of the excellence of its Promotional Stories experience in employing storytelling to promote awareness of cultural heritage and raise awareness of its value. This reflects the growing standing of the Emirate of Ajman in adopting innovative initiatives in the fields of heritage and education.
The Department’s win of the award — launched by the World Heritage Institute of Training and Research for the Asia and the Pacific Region in collaboration with UNESCO National Commissions — came after competing against more than 90 international entries from institutions and experts from around the world, with the aim of honouring outstanding educational practices related to cultural and natural heritage sites and promoting innovation in heritage education at the international level.
The experience received the award having met the approved evaluation criteria, which encompassed innovation, impact, applicability, and sustainability — affirming the distinction of the initiative and its role in employing cultural heritage as a platform for education and innovation, reinforcing national identity, and consolidating the Emirate of Ajman’s standing within specialised international initiatives in the fields of heritage and education.
Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Ajman Department of Tourism, Culture and Media, expressed his pride in this achievement, affirming that it reflects the Emirate of Ajman’s growing standing in the development of cultural and educational initiatives, and embodies the Department’s success in adopting distinctive projects that harness innovation, enhance the presence of cultural heritage, and consolidate its values within society.
